About this conference

The Northeast Waste Management Officials’ Association (NEWMOA) and the University of Connecticut Technical Assistance to Brownfields Program (UConn TAB), in partnership with the U.S. EPA Region 1 Brownfields Program, and regional tribal and state brownfields programs, are excited to announce the third biennial Brownfields Summit taking place December 9–10, 2026, at the Newport Marriott in Newport, RI. Cleaning up and redeveloping brownfields strengthens local economies, supports job creation, revitalizes existing infrastructure, and improves community and environmental health. The 2026 Brownfields Summit will provide a regional forum for learning, collaboration, and connection around these important issues. The goals of the Summit are to: Share information about financial incentives, liability protections, technical resources, and other assistance available for brownfields development; Promote best practices and lessons learned across tribes, states, and communities; Create opportunities for networking and information exchange among key stakeholders. The two-day program will feature plenary and breakout sessions, an exhibit area, and a networking reception on the first evening. Breaks throughout the event will allow ample time to connect with colleagues and explore the exhibit area.
