Missouri Trauma Roundtable Model
This document, known as The Missouri Model for Trauma-Informed Schools, provides a comprehensive strategic framework to guide educational institutions in integrating trauma-informed practices. It outlines a multi-year journey, typically spanning three to five years, structured around five core principles: safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment. The plan details sequential stages, starting with universal trauma awareness training, establishing dedicated trauma teams, and progressing to continuous program, practice, and policy changes. The overarching goal is to transform school environments to foster healthy and resilient educators and learners, improve school culture, academic performance, and student discipline, ultimately leading to more equitable outcomes across all aspects of school operation, including staff well-being, curriculum, and community engagement.
